I have worked with plan international before and I have found them very effective and reliable.
In a nutshell, it cost around $36 per month to sponsor a kid from a third world country. $36 a month for a whole year does sound a lot of money. It is indeed a lot of money. However, if we each contribute $3 a month, we should be easily able to pull this off. Throw in all the changes in your pocket, chip in couple of quarters, throw in few dimes here and there and there is your $3. Your simple act of kindness can bring lots of joys and happiness in someone else's life.
