Why remove the good service that was already in place ? Mailing the application and old passport to the Embassy was much easier and cost effective. Now we hear a lots of complaints about people not being able to fly to DC for a couple of days because of their immigration status in the US. We also know that Embassy staffs get commission from hotels in DC when you stay there if you let them know about the purpose of the visit.

Embassy prefers you to stay home and relax, if you agree to send your "eyeball" or 'thumb" securely by mail.
Since Nepal is updating its Electronic passport (e-passport) it requires electronic finger-printing, and facial eye reading for authentication purpose.
Wayat!!!

Nepal Government WAS doing a favor when they had Passport Renewal by mail. Not now after they required everyone to fly to DC to renew passport. There are lots of other countries who provide services like Mail in Passport Renewal. That's a very very small thing a favor for Nepalese people. Sexy Sari..you sound like you work at the Embassy. It's a loss for all Nepalese.
