Bibek Guragain was sentenced to 10 months in jail with a non-parole period of six months for the up-skirt filming over a five-month period this year at the Woolworths supermarket in Surry Hills.
With time already spent in immigration detention, he will serve less than three months in prison.

Guragain's visa was cancelled after he was caught filming more than 40 colleagues and customers.
The 23-year-old set up a camera in the bathroom and recorded up the skirts of women walking down the aisles.
On Wednesday he made a very public walk for filming a very private act, escorted by a guard to court from Villawood Detention Centre.
In a letter to the court, he pleaded for forgiveness.

"I remember wishing that I could stop, but I could not and I can't even explain it," he wrote.
"I didn't just let myself down, I let all the people who believed in me and who trusted me down as well.
"I am really sorry."
It is expected that Guragain will be sent back to his home country of Nepal. Source: 7 News
While Magistrate Joanne Keogh acknowledged the public shame Guragain has endured, she said it "didn't compare to the gross invasion of privacy of his victims in completely vulnerable circumstances".
Upon his releases he will immediately be deported back to his home country of Nepal.
